About Debby Jay
Debby Jay has over 30 years of experience in the field of mind-body health. She was certified by the American Center for the Alexander Technique in New York in 1982, after successfully completing 1600 hours of specialized hands-on training over three years.
Since 1989, Debby has been teaching the Alexander Technique [AT] in private lessons and groups. She was on the faculty of the Howard Fine Acting Studio for 7 years, introducing the joys of the AT to hundreds of students.
More recently, she has been an invited guest teacher at the BGB Studio where she has led her 3-hour workshop, An Introduction to the Alexander Technique for Actors, over 50 times as well as teaching an 8-week class, the Audition Connection.
Debby successfully completed her training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner [SEP] in Orange County and northern California after 250 hours of instruction over 3 years. She has assisted senior faculty on 16 Somatic Experiencing training modules and is approved to give sessions to SE trainees at the Beginning and Intermediate levels.
Debby’s unique blend of the Alexander Technique and Somatic Experiencing reflects a deep respect for an individual’s history as well offering wonderful tools for finding freedom from one’s past conditioning that leads to a stronger sense of self.
